OPERATING IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA

Nickel, drawn responsibly from Papua New Guinea's highlands.

Oro Nickel Limited explores, develops and processes nickel resources in partnership with PNG landowners and communities — built for the long term, not the next quarter.

WHO WE ARE

A PNG resources company, built on trust with the land and the people who steward it.

Papua New Guinea holds some of the Asia-Pacific's most significant untapped nickel and cobalt deposits — minerals the world needs for batteries, stainless steel, and the energy transition. Oro Nickel Limited exists to unlock that resource the right way: through rigorous exploration, disciplined engineering, and genuine partnership with the customary landowners and provincial communities on whose ground we operate. We believe a mine is only as strong as the trust it's built on.

More About Us

OUR FLAGSHIP ASSET

Six decades in the making. Ready for its next chapter.

Oro Nickel Limited's flagship asset is the Mambare Nickel Project, located in Oro Province — just 90 kilometres from Port Moresby. It is one of the largest known nickel-cobalt laterite deposits in Papua New Guinea, with a project history stretching back more than six decades.

Discovery & Early Exploration

The Mambare deposit was first identified in the early 1960s. Extensive mapping and exploration followed over the decades, including work by INCO — then the world's largest nickel company, today part of the global mining group Vale.

Resource Definition

Successive technical teams, including Australian-led groups, carried out significant drilling and geological work, leading to a formal JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate — confirming Mambare as one of the region's largest nickel laterite resources.

Renewed Investment (2018–Today)

Since 2018, the project has been managed under the Australian-led Battery Metals group, backed by specialist funds including the Natwest Finance group of Oceania. Recent work has included updated Feasibility Studies, further JORC-compliant estimates, mine plan optimisation, and metallurgical studies — with a further $10 million invested to advance the project toward development.

Permitting & The Path Ahead

Mambare's Phase 1 Environmental Permit and Mining Lease have both been granted. We are now working through the remaining approvals needed for full-scale development alongside our government partners, ahead of a planned two-phase development that includes in-country processing.

WHAT WE DO

From exploration to export

Exploration & Resource Definition

Systematic geological mapping and drilling programs across our tenements to define nickel-cobalt laterite resources to international reporting standards.

Sustainable Extraction

Modern mining practices designed around PNG's terrain and ecosystems, with rehabilitation planned in from day one rather than bolted on at the end.

Processing & Offtake

Ore beneficiation and logistics that connect PNG's resources to global nickel markets, supporting stainless steel and battery-grade supply chains.

Our commitment to Papua New Guinea

We operate on the understanding that our license to mine is granted by the land and its people, not just by government permit. Every project is built around three commitments.

Landowners First

Free, prior and informed consent with customary landowners, fair compensation, and long-term benefit-sharing agreements.

Local Employment

Training and hiring PNG nationals first, building skills that outlast any single project.

Environmental Stewardship

Rehabilitation, water and biodiversity monitoring built into every phase of operation, not treated as an afterthought.

Let's talk about PNG's mineral future.
